Smoked in KC

Another night, another Royals starting pitcher baffling the Yankees.

There's no real way to explain how this explosive offense has scored just one run over 12 2/3 innings against Luke Hudson and Jorge De La Rosa, but that's exactly what has happened so far at Kauffman Stadium.Gates

Fortunately for the Yankees, they plastered the Royals bullpen for 10 runs in the eighth inning on Monday, giving them a win in one of the first two games. Tuesday, they weren't so lucky, as Todd Wellemeyer cruised through 3 1/3 innings to close out the game.

Derek Jeter had a particularly rough night, striking out to end the inning with men in scoring position three times, including in the ninth with the bases loaded. Jeter actually took the AL batting lead over Joe Mauer at one point during the game, but Mauer now leads Jeter .346-.344.

On a side note, if you're ever in Kansas City, give Gates BBQ a try. I ate there on Tuesday on the advice of several friends, and it was worth the trip. Spectacluar ribs and great sauce.

Mark, Harry from LA. I think Jeter does better with RISP when he's on the field rather than the DH, what are his numbers respectively do you know? Though he might've DH'd just four times this season?

It's odd how the back end of rotation did well against the twins, while the front end are struggling against the royals. But hey, that's baseball rite?

Seems like u're enjoying kansas city....

OK. What is it with Americans and their "rites, lites, nites"??? I have a friend who does it all the time and I feel like shaking her everytime I see it.

Is there some kind of boycott against the letters "ight" that I'm unaware of? lol :-)

LOL, angel, i always type Tonite, but its a bad habit...i try not to type it in official stuff (off course)...i dont say rite though, unless i say shoprite...

Here's hoping for a good outing by Johnson. I cannot beleive that the Red Sox have taken two from Chicago. It just goes to show how overhyped that central division really is.

Random thoughts:

I feel like every contending team in the AL East and AL Central has been sputtering a bit lately. The White Sox just happen to be doing the worst of the 5 (or 6, if you still think Toronto has a run in them).

Consequently, I think the White Sox offense owes Javier Vazquez a big freakin pizza. Not many people go 8 innings of 1-run ball, striking out 11, and STILL get the loss. Unless you're on Houston, I guess.

So, how about the glorious return of Sean Henn? I see he was already back to his old ways, getting all three outs on high fly balls near the warning track.

Btw, another inning, another strikeout for Brian Bruney, who now has a 1.08 ERA. How did the Diamondbacks cut this guy loose?

Question for people out there: can anyone confirm that Randy Johnson allegedly said he would retire after this year if the Yankees won the World Series?

I understand your plite, Angel. I hate when words are not rite in my site. It is the hite of indifference. Yet not worth the fite. Better to use flite.

Hope I could shed some lite. And we hope for a good game tonite and the Yanks show some mite and the pitching is tite.

swo - I don't think randy will retire at the end of the year if the yanks win the series - he's not that far away from 300 victories, and that may be just a little too sweet for him to retire.

Don't know about the Big Unit's retirement schedule, but I do think it's a bad day to trash the AL Central, i.e., the day after the Yankees got blanked by the worst team in that division. Bruney looks great right now, but let's see how he does down the stretch run on the big stage.

Mark, Kansas City is one of the best eating cities I have visited. Great beef almost everywhere and relatively inexpensive compared to the coasts.

Used to go to Country Club Plaza a lot where there are lots of good restaurants. Too bad the Mr. Putch steakhouse is long gone. But a more recent favorite place was Lou Piniella's Longhorn Steakhouse, though someone told me he no longer owns it.

This is the stretch run and it is the big stage and Bruney has looked great.

Good point Swo about the teams sputtering. Angels have also though not playing the Yanks. It seems all the top teams have struggled in the AL. But then it is also a long season and a lot of players are tired by now.

For a while, it looked like there may be 5 teams with 96 or more wins in the AL and one or two wouldn't make the playoffs. That usually doesn't happen. As for the AL East and Central "sputtering", I think things are just sifting out a bit. The law of averages catches up and everything gets back to the normal order of things. You'll have your division winners with 95-100, and your runnerups in the 88-92 range. Just things evening out.

Randy would have to have a good 2007 AND ALSO COME BACK in 2008 to get to 300 wins. He has 278 now. Maybe he gets 3 more this year to make it to 281. I don't see the fading RJ winning 19 next year, so it will be very difficult for him to make it to 300.

Agree, Mike. No way Randy can reach his 300th victory next year. If he can win his 300th game, it won't be until 2008

And I'm not sure if he will be on the mound for the 2008 season.
So, maybe it's true what Swo told us. Randy could retire this year with another ring

Agreed Jorge. I just don't think that there is enough left in the tank for Randy to reach 300. Especially since he turns 43 on Sunday.

Oh. My. God.

Paul, I want to dig my eyes out with a spoon after reading that "blite" you inflicted upon the English language. I blame Shoprite, Lola. Ack! I am thinking that post was almost more offensive to my eyes than Courier font.

Careful, Angel, you'll only encourage him to reach new hites.

Great insite, Andy.

Did I miss a fite in here?

Don't be contrite even though you mite have, at least you are not in the Isles of Wite.

By the way, when does Jaret Write pitch?

The erstwhile Knite, Jaret Write, will pitch in a fortnite....Tuesday would be rite.

Will Jaret Write take an earlier flite or will he stay with the team through the nite and wither the fite?

I tried to warn you what you mite start, Angel, but I guess it was all for naut.

It mite be a good idea for me to do some homework, even though I'd much rather fly a kight.

Just the thought of Jaret Write causes ample frite even though sometimes his starts were brite though most were slite.

Angel is responsible for the plite of the blog tonite.

7 pm tonite...Portland @ Trenton. (AA playoff gm)

Pitching...Phillip Hughes

DH...Hideki Matsui

Can anybody explain to me why I dont hear about Charlie Chaplin in the US as much as I heard abt him in other countries? Is he not from the US?

If the Yankees start the playoffs at home then I would go with:
Game 1: Wang

Game 2: Johnson

Game 3: Mussina

I agree wholeheartedly, Alex.

Vik, maybe because he was before the time of most of us, if not all of us.

His movies were in the time of my grandparents I think.

He was an actor and a mime, or is that mighm?

Charlie Chaplin? Who mite that be? Oh yeah, the silent movie guy. Don't know why you never hear about him in this country, Vik. Maybe because most American youth are uncultured idiots? (Generally speaking. Don't mean to imply that any young person on this blog is in that category.)

This ugly blite on the Yankee offense had better end tonite. 4 or 5 runs in the first would be a great site.

oops, tighm

Rob, isn't that what we go to school for? That and to get an edumacation.

Charlie Chaplin was British, although most of his well-known work was done in the U.S. Basically, he's "old news" - popular American culture tends to focus on the present and recent past. Any discussion of old movie stars will include Chaplin, but those discussions are few and far between.

Some channels in India runs Charlie Chaplin shows for an hour every sunday. Especially kid's channels. Here I watched most other really really old cartoons and shows but I've never watched Charlie Chaplin on TV. Not even on Turner Classic.

He was British and never got his citizenship here in the US. During the Red Scare in the 1950's he was not let back into the USA and lived in Switzerland for the rest of his life.

I desperately want Wang to be a 20 game winner. What do people think his chances are?

that makes sense. a lot of brit influence on India. Thanks Gabe, Andy, Rob and Paul.

Hes got about 5 starts left falejandro so if the Yankees can score some runs for him his chances should be pretty good.

Charles Spencer Chaplin, 1889-1977, was born in England and came to the U.S. as a lad. A lot of his films had the me vs.society label.

Chaplin's political leanings were heavily leftist-leaning, thus irking J. Edgar Hoover (Chaplin's private life, esp. his womanizing very young girls drew reprimand also). When Chaplin went overseas in 1952, Hoover used the occasion to urge the IRS to not renew Chaplin's visa. Chaplin then settled in Switzerland, and didn't come back to the U.S. until 1972, when he was presented an honorary Oscar. This was in early 1972, and ironically, Hoover (the long-time FBI director) died shortly thereafter, in May.

Chaplin died on Dec. 25, 1977. Soon after his death, his body was kidnapped and held for ransom. The kidnappers were eventually caught and the body recovered. No ransom was paid.

I think I got the details right. I am a big fan of his films, if not his politics.

He liked long walks on the beach as well as cheese, as long as it was strate from the shaker.

Everybody irked J. Edgar Hoover.

Thank you Mike. Very informative. I am a big fan of his too. Although I am not a very funny guy, He was my childhood hero and I wanted to be a comedian. Did not know anything abt his political side but I knew he was a womanizer. most popular stars are. Aren't they.

And we'd better not get into politics or we mite really have that fite tonite.

When I taught US History a couple of years ago, I made sure my class learned about Charlie Chaplin, among other early silent film stars.

I don't think all teachers do the same, though. Of course, a proper History teacher also makes sure his students learn at least a little about the greatest sports franchise in the world, too.

When the history of baseball is written, you know who will be on the cover? The New York Yankees, and of course, Nick Green.

****, Angel see what you started :-D

or rather, should i say hc97 started it all with an innocent comment...LOL

I think people that are not already participating on this blog find this to be a blog of mad people. Poor Mark. Pays $5 a month (right Lola) for crazy people to talk to each other. hahaha.

Here's a very interesting rule. Why cant AL adopt this rule. It is very useful.

National Association leagues may adopt a rule providing that one or both games of a doubleheader shall be seven innings in length. In such games, any of these rules applying to the ninth inning shall apply to the seventh inning.

Not trying to sound Mr Negative, but don't you think the Yankees need to win tonight? This will mark the 3rd game in a row we are facing pitchers that have ERA's above 6 and 7 and if we lose 2 out of 3 to KC it really doesn't bode really well. I don't think the likes of Minnesota or Chicago will be throwing 3 pitchers w/ERA's above 6 at us in the playoffs.......getting shut out last night I know isn't the end of the world, but wasn't very good....what do you guys/gals think?

I don't think there is such a thing a "must-win" game right now. We need to win enough games to get into the playoffs, period. Home field advantage would be nice, but not essential. So, realistically, 12 - 15 wins in our last 25 will get us in. If one of those wins comes tonight, great.

Some teams play up or down to their level of competition. It's only human.

More on Chaplin. He founded United Artists with Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks and others.

He was once married to film star Paulette Goddard.

His last marriage was to Oona O'Neill, daughter of playwright (playrite? LOL) Eugene O'Neill. I believe they got married in 1943, when Chaplin was 54 and O'Neill 18.

He was knighted in, I believe, 1975.

The theme song of the Muscular Dystrophy Association is "Smile", made famous in a Nat King Cole version. (Smile, though your heart is breaking....). The melody of "Smile" was written by Chaplin for one of his films. I forget which one it was, but I think it was 1937's Modern Times.

Turner Classic Movies showed the 1940 film "The Great Dictator" a few months ago. I taped it.

You still have a VCR? ;)

Sam. No way this is a must win game, even if the Red Sox beat the White Sox tonight. The Yankees aren't playing bad or hitting poorly, they are just in one of their "not getting timely hits" modes right now. In fact look back to the Homestand and see they didn't bat so well with runners on, and they did quite well. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I will only think a game is a "must win" if the Red Sox are within 4 games on the eve of their series in the Bronx, till then I don't care if the lead it 10, 7, 5 or 9, the Yanks are comfortably in front.

Hey, I've still got 8-tracks and LP's.

I think it all boils down to the fact that the Yankees don't have as much scouting information on the Royals as we do on the contending teams...which is why we will destroy Barry Zito or Bartolo Colon one day and then get shut down by Luke Hudson or Adam Loewen the next. Considering the tendencies of Zito and Colon to pitch well and the non-tendencies of Hudson and Loewen to pitch well, it makes sense to focus your attention (scouting-wise) on certain teams than others.

I'm not saying the Yankees didn't try as hard against the Royals...I'm sure they did...they just don't know as much about the team, and the Royals used that to their advantage.

Yeah, I got a VCR/dvd. Actually, I still have 2 others I had before this one, including a VCR I bought in 1986. It still works, too.

I must have about 450 LPs and 45s, incl. some original 45s from the late 50s, early 60s. (I won't go into what a 45 is for you youngsters out there...LOL)

...plus hundreds of cds....

Absolutelly agree with your recent post, Swolansky. You're completely "rite".
I still have a lot of LP's and 45's too, Mike. My father (80 years old) still plays his LP's. Incredible. Of course, he has no CD's at all.

Our old friend, José Contreras, will pitch against the Red Flops tonite. Hope he looks totally rite. And that his eyes don't be disturbed by the lites at Fenway

I'm saving my LP's for use with my grandkids - you know the old "when I was your age we had it so rough" stories.

We need to win today guys. Detroit lost. We will be tied in the loss column if we win today.

anyone else listening to the Trenton - Portland game?

Hughes K's the side in the 1st

Isn't Portland Boston's AA affiliate?

Listening to internet radio. Hughes gave up a hit in the first but struck out the side.

Yup. Portland is. I saw a Trenton-Portland game last year and Hanley Ramirez was the SS for Portland. Of course in the offseason the Bosox traded him to the Marlins.

Hughes first inning.

Single

Runner stole second.

Matsui is Dhing and hitting cleanup.

Our big guys kick their big guy's a$$e$ and out kids kick their little guy's a$$es. I like it.

Strikeout for Hideki

Go to milb.com. Click on multimedia. Click on listen live. You will see a list of games, incl. Portland at Trenton. To listen to Trenton's announcers, click on WBUD.

Oh boy...I have a bad feeling this blog post is going to be really long...can we keep the play-by-play to a minimum tonight, guys?

Wouldn't you love to be a major leaguer on AA rehab. You think maybe you'd get a little respect? They'd treat you like you're Nick Green!

Sure..in fact..no posting during the Yankee game either

Just updates on Hughes and Hideki.

Well shawn, as much as I'd like that, we all know that's just not gonna happen. And considering Hughes already has 5 Ks through 2 innings, there's going to be some noise, in the blog world and elsewhere!

So why complain if there is nothing that can be done about it?

Hughes 2nd inning

Single, K, single, flyout, K

3-0 White Sox...top of 2nd

Shawn, don't you have something better to do than microanalyze my comments?

Hughes inning 3

K, walk, flyout, K

Clippard will pitch tomorrow.

Think there will be

HUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHEEEEEES

Cheers like

MOOOOOOSSSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEE

for Mussina and Skowron?

I dont appreciate the fact that Mike's Hard Lemonade is not a twist off cap bottle. I almost chipped my tooth!

not really no

But Lola...I think it IS a twist-off cap bottle! I've never known it to be otherwise!

:-P

I also look forward to shouting "HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGHES" in a year or two, especially if he's going to be having games like this one!

it isn't, unfortunately. And i cant find my bottle opener for some reason. Figures...first time i really had a use for it, cant find it.

Yankee lineup tonight.

Bobby Abreu RF

Jason Giambi 1B

Alex Rodriguez 3B

They must give RJ run support

Hey, Mike. You stole the credit I deserve!!!!!!!!!!

You may have it, Jorge.

I've got a NYY bottle opener. How I would like to borrow it to you, mi amiga loca

Hughes inning # 4

K, K, Lineout

Pale Hose lead Colored hose 4-0 in the 2nd.

José strucked out Lowell, Tek and Hinske. Great. Still 4-0

In fact, José has 5 strikeouts in a row. Last 2 outs of 1st inning and the side of the 2nd

OK, I have to mention it. Hughes has 9 Ks through 4 innings.

I'll always remember the interview with Thunder manager Bill Masse. When asked,

"When do you think Phillip Hughes will be able to pitch in the Majors?"

he replied,

"Right now."

Hughes has the stuff, that isn't even questionable. He just needs to be brought up slowly and have his endurance built up gradually. We'll be shouting HUUUUUUGHES in April 2008 at the latest.

Kyle "I have to pitch 5 innings to win?" Snyder is falling apart.

Surely Hughes will make it at Columbus next year. And maybe we won't have to wait 'till 2008, Swo. He could be on the mound of the Stadium next September

Matsui lines out to right his 2nd time up.

Thanks for the update, Mike. When will Godzilla join the guys? Next homestand?

5-0 ChiSox. Snyder out.

And still runner on 2nd with one out at Fenway. Crede to the play and Podsednik on deck

Next homestand. I hear Sheff may take BP with Yanks in Baltimore. Andrew will be there Sat., and so will I. If we get there early enough, maybe we can see the Yanks (and Sheff) take BP.

Sorry. I meant Crede to the plate

No I heard he might join them on the current road trip.

Where do you go to get the play by play for trenton?

I'd like to see Hughes in the playoffs next year, helping us go on to win our second world series in a row! =D

Jorge, i'm going to go to the yankee store on 5th ave and maybe i'll find one too :-D

Rats. Thunder can't give Hughes any runs. 0-0 after 4.

About Sheff, we still don't know when he will be able to play? I imagine it is depending on how he feels during that BP you're telling us Mike. Am I "rite"?

Go to milb.com. Click on multimedia. Click on listen live. You will see a list of games, incl. Portland at Trenton. To listen to Trenton's announcers, click on WBUD.

Posted by: yankeefan1@enter.net | September 6, 2006 07:27 PM

I'd rather we make sure Hughes is ready for 2008 than bring him up next year just to get a look at the majors.

Yes, Sheff won't have the advantage of a minor league rehab. So hopefully he is cleared for BP in Baltimore and see how that goes.

Ok, amiga. But do not use it to open your Mike's Hard Lemonade. PLEASE!!!!!!! It is done to open a really COLD BEER

1 pitch 1 out for damon

Thanks for the info . Go Godzilla,Trenton yah!!

MVP MVP MVP MVP

17 games and counting.

That's 17 in a row for DJ. Rite?

LOL, Jorge, i only drink "feminine beer"..smirnoff, mikes, bacardi silvers etc.

Looks as if Hughes has gotten the stare-down right.

Same post. Same time, Pinstripes. BTW, your name is.....?????

BACARDI. You've said the magic word, Lola

Don't you dirnk Tequila, Lola?

My name is Libby.

Typing dirnk instead of drink, and all of you will think I am drinking Tequila and Bacardí right now

Hughes just gave up a run :/

Abreu falls behind 0-2, takes 2 balls, then fouls off 4 in a row. Way to make him work.

Rats, Hughes gave up a run.

Hi, Libby. If you don't mind:
Female? Age? Hometown?

Another almost ten pitches at bat for Bobby

ewww, for my going away party from my last job last month, my old co-workers made me do tequila shots...sowwy, i thought it was gross! they also made me do shots of red headed sl*t, lol. also very gross.
i really only drink smirnoff ice, mikes, bacardi silvers, plus ammeretto or midori sours when in clubs/bars that dont serve those.

10 Ks for Hughes.

Ok. Let's see how Randy comes. I'm expecting a great outing.

I wonder if they'll still limit Hughes' innings for the playoffs? Regardless, they better score some runs for him in the bottom of the 5th, because it's not everyday a guy strikes out 10 in 5 innings!

Female, 30, north of Boston
I live in Red Sox Nation, but I am not a citizen!

And yes, I enjoy long walks on the beach.

If they don't score for Hughes he and Vasquez can form a support group.

Thanks, Libby. Another member of our Yankee family. Wow. This family is really increasing

Hughes 5th.

Single, sacrifice, ground out (runner advances to 3b), single, (runner scores) K.

1 run, 5 hits, 1 walk and 10 Ks....and he's losing 1-0

BTW, Lola, I posted some comment on your blog this afternoon. Waiting for your answer about the question I made about José

7-1 ChiSox. My boy Jermaine Dye helping both the fantasy team and the Chicago Sox team.

Which one is your religion? Does your religion allow you to have (n+1) husbands???????????

Posted by: jtorresmesias@hotmail.com | September 6, 2006 03:17 PM

****, Jorge i just saw this comment :-D.

I am catholic, and i do believe Father would frown down upon having multiple husbands. LOL. I only really have one, and his name is Robbie Jose :-D, i have "affairs" with Grady Sizemore, Jose Reyes and Willie Taveras. LOL.

By the way, the Jose on my page is just a friend (and not the way Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston claim to be just friends).

this offensive power by the chisox, where was it the past 2 days? *long hiss*

Speaking of Grady Sizemore, did you see him on ESPNews yesterday Lola?

12 pitch inning for Randy. Good good.

A 1-2-3 for Randy.

Anyone else feel the E # drops to 15 tonight?

OMG, Grady was on ESPeeN last night...i missed him =(
What was he saying? What was he wearing? :-D

*raises hands*
I'd love to see the E drop to 15 tonite. Yes.

I LOVE Jennifer Aniston. I can't understand what is she doing with Vince Vaughn

LOL they were talking about the central division and how next year the Indians can get back into the playoffs. They called him a rising star.

LOL!! You can BITE (bight?) me!!

Oh you guys are such brats!! Haha it was actually kinda serious question too LOL. I've wondered it for ages. Obviously there IS a boycott i'm not aware of. :-)

I hope God smites good you for all those "ites"!

Also Grady said he has some kind of stomach ache. He thinks while in New York he ate a frozen turkey, which was really frozen

Hi, my sweet Angel!!!!!!! Ready to see E# going to 15 "TONITE" ????????

Jermaine Dye's helping your fantasy team? Contreras, Thome, Konerko, and Iguchi are doing WONDERS for mine!

Trenton tied it 1-1.

You're in the playoffs too? How is your team doing? I'm beating the other guy 8-1 :)

I think Jennifer Aniston might be overrated. She doesnt strike me as this amazing beauty people speak of. I dunno...she just looks "old" and "tight faced" to me :-/ but whatever, what do i know? I'm in LOVE with Angelina Jolie. Always have, always will. Perhaps thats why i am biased :-p

Andrew, Grady sure is a rising star. I have his article from last months ESPN Mag plastered on my wall :-D...i always have to remember to take it down when Robbie comes home, you know...dont want to make my Robbie jealous or anything.

Speak of the devil. Robbie just fouled off a rocket!

Yeah. Trenton ties it. You'd hate to see Hughes lose a game like that.

Good Andrew. Has Hideki going to the plate again? I believe he was 0 for 2

It had BETTER ..i'm still recovering from the "ite-is" you all gave me, lol.

Hopefully Godzilla puts Trenton up.

Speaking of frozen turkeys, some town in Texas has a turkey festival every year, and one of the competitions is a turkey toss.

LOL, Angel, i was like i cant wait till Angel gets back to see her reaction to the epidemic she started :-D

They walked Matsui intentionally and the fans are booing.

Jennifer Anniston is not even good enough to be Angelina's shitpot.

Boooooo....2nd and 3rd so they intentionally walk Matsui.

Nice at bat for Robbie.

I have a feeling Detroit is going to miss the playoffs. They still have 7 games left with the Twins and White Sox combined, all on the road. And think about this... the last team you want to face in the first round of the playoffs are the Twins, because of Santana and Liriano. You have to root for the Twins to get into first and the White Sox to be the Wild Card, let the A's and Twins fight it out, while we have a classice 5 game series against the White Sox. But if the Twins are the Wild Card team I would be very wary.

Egad, Lola, Jennifer Aniston is awesome.

lol I loathe Angelina Jolie..tongue kissing your brother is just eww - exhibitionists. TMI offense from both of them, lol.

LOL @ Jorge! I'd never feed my Grady a frozen turkey! NEVER! :-D

See what Libby said, Lola? You should go to Texas. Maybe you can win a huge prize

Yikes, Vik, you kiss your wife with that mouth?

I could use some frozen ice cream.

Let's go Melky!

I never liked her before the Brangelina thing.. but that didnt make me like her much more. I really don't care too much for him anymore either.. and i used to like him a lot.

And as for the "bite (bight) me" comment, hey, you started it.

It was tough to misspell all those words.

Egad, Lola, Jennifer Aniston is awesome.

Posted by: paul1040@aol.com | September 6, 2006 08:36 PM

Could not agree more Paul. Maybe it is because both of us knows much about women. You know. We're at our 40's...

What can I do Paul? I have only one mouth.

lol doesn't ice cream have to be frozen to be ice cream?

Hughes is out for the 6th...?

Ewww, Jennifer Aniston is NOT awesome. She doesnt look fresh faced at all. She looks like she is being forced to smile cause all her facial muscles seem to tighten up...like as if she got a face lift too tight.LOL. I cant wait to flip the page when they start talking about her and Vince in my In Touch mag. LOL.

Hughes is pitching the 6th.

11 Ks.

It could be in a milk shake Angel...haha

Awww, my hubby fell short of his hustle =(

DELIVERY BY THE MELKMAN!!!!!!!!

The fantasy team thanks you Melky.

Way to go Melky! THe Melkman delivers.

While, it's a run. Melk delivered.
Hey everyone.

Jennifer (I really like even that name) has been hot for at least 12 years or so since I first saw her on Friends.

Wow, she has an amazing....

face. (also)

The run scored, right?

by the way, what is Egad, and how is it pronounced? They didnt teach me this in my grade school... :-/

12 Ks.

Thats my boy Melky. And was Cano running too lazily.

Melky was up with 2 out, Posada on 3rd, Cano on 2nd. Posada scored, Cano thrown out at home.

For those who are watching the game, was it a clear out at the plate? Or another bad call?

She was in that movie Leprechaun too.

I love her in Office Space.

Yay Melky!

13 strikeouts for Hughes. Struck out the side in the 6th.

Lola, as it is written:

Eeeee-gad

gad rhymes with Vlad, sort of. Same A sound.

Two things I am looking forward to...

A new Niece or nephew due on April 8th...

and the MLB debut of Hughes.

K/K/K! 13 Ks!

Thanks. I was all excited about Melky's hit, and the next thing I heard was "he's out."

8-1 at Fenway!!!!!!!

Dimitri Young was unconditionally released by Detroit.

Mike: If your niece or nephew is 2 days earlier than expected, the world will see another great genius.

Oh, and welcome again, Libby, now that we know your name.

I am on the South Shore of Boston. We have it surrounded.

Wow, I guess the White Sox found their bats.

what does it mean? What is its origin? When is it appropriate to use?
Can i say, "Egad, i love the Yankees", or "Egad i am going to the store", or "Egad, i'd loved to have 24 of Grady Sizemore's babies".?

Got to leave for tonight, folks. See you all next Friday. And, yes. The Magic Number will be 15 when we all go to sleep

Young was released? I never liked him....hope he goes to Boston so he can poison them next year.

LOL Lola.. someone famous used to say it lot, I think.

Was in the Sherlock Holmes books?

TWENTY FOUR???????????? Lola, which one is your religion??????????????????

Next Friday, Jorge? In 2 days or in 9 days? Are you traveling away again to the hedonist place?

Contreras struck Varitek out. Made him run to first base and had AJ throw him out. Max torture for min result. hahaha. I like that.

in other news, Anibal Sanchez has a no hitter going thru 7. And the redsox are building for the future.

It's good to be here!

Webster says....egad...probable euphemism for Oh God----used as a mild oath.

Lola, it is an exclamation. Sort of like golly gee, but edgier, and keeps me from swearing. So I use it abundently.

RJ sharp so far

abundantly

Randy has a scoreless 2nd. Out, walk, DP.

Shhhhhh, Paul. That's a secret between Jennifer Aniston and me. We will spend the whole weekend in Cancún.

Dreaming, dreaming

I was talking about next friday, Paul, Two days from today

The little ***** was pulled from the Sox game.

LOL @ Jorge!
For Grady, i'll go above and beyond my 5 kids limit :-D

and where are u going till friday =(

you reappear, only to now dissapear on us again? :'(

dont pull a paul on us!

They said on the raidio that the Tigers are saying that the release was performace-based, but Suzyn doesn't seem to buy it.

So, if you had 24 of Grady Sizemore's babies, I think Egad would be appropriate, Lola.

Libby. What is your full given name? I have been trying to think what it could be for the past 15 mins. But no. Please, deliver me from this torture.

OK, Jorge. That term breeds confusion since some people use "next Friday" to mean the Friday after this Friday, and others use it to mean the very next Friday. So I constantly seek clarification.

Libby is short for Elizabeth.

With school starting tomorrow, a vacation in Cancún sounds good about now.

why did Manny have to leave the game?

I said I'll see you next Friday because I think tomorrow's i a day-off. Am I RITE?

Dunno, it just shows David Murphy in left instead of him.

Poor Dmitri Young. He probably fell off the wagon again.

I guess Marcus Thames will get his usual playing time again. Does anyone remember his first MLB at-bat? He was on the Yanks, and he hit a home run off none other than Randy Johnson. Good stuff.

Thanks Libby. Liz=Libby=Elizabeth. I learnt something today.

Elizabeth has a lot of nicknames.

Elizabeth i a very pretty name. I've always liked it

Ok ok, i see yous might think 24 babies might be too much. Maybe i'll reconsider :-D...maybe cut it in half.
And i was thinking i am lucky he doesnt wear number 56 or something! Pheww, i dont know what i'd do then!!!

I have lots of those substitute words that keep me from swearing.

As for Young, no way that was performance-related. They've expanded rosters, not like he's costing them anything. It's personal. If I were the Tigers I would want to get rid of a person like that though.

Ooooooh Dye came SO close to hitting another one out.

Lola - It was a combination of the Red Sox losing and his knee. That and Manny just looks lazy tonight.

Like, lazier than usual.

Some of us post on days off also Jorge.

I can only imagine what we will do after the Yankees win the World Series and we will be months without baseball.

I personally morph into an avid Patriots (NFL football) after baseball season is over but that is only one game a week.

The baseball withdrawal worries me.

What's going on with the "s". That's two straight posts from me typing "i" instead of "is"

Maybe "i" the combination of Tequila and Bacardí

Doesn't Mark post stuff during the offseason? Maybe he'll do the same here.

Poor Kid. Sanchez is getting nervous. Like REALLY nervous. 5 more outs for a no hitter.

Vik, Libby and Liddy are both nicknames for Elizabeth, as well as Liz, Betty, Beth, Lizbeth, and Fluffy.

I become someone who counts down the days to Spring Training - starting in November.

The guy who looks like a ghost is pitching for the Red Sox. I think I'll change that gameday window to the Marlins game.

Only 1 run against this team? How horrible. This team is in big trouble.

Man, I'm horrible at Kasey impersonations.

Hughes is done after 6 innings. A no-decision.

6 IP

1 R

5 hits

1 walk, and

THIRTEEN strikeouts!

omg Paul. Thats too much stuff to learn in a day. But why do they need so many short names for the same name. I thought Liddy was Lydia.

I don't think Young's release was performance based, either.

Jorge, I like Elizabeth now, but not so much when I was younger.

I get into baseball-less depression by mid-December. I like football but I am a Packers fan so that does not cheer me up much these days. Just high school hockey, which is fun in Minnesota. Only here can you sell out a 5,000 seat arena for high school.

Hughes: wow. What more can I say.

How is Matsui doing?

Vik is a nickname for Elizabeth? So, maybe yankee_indian has been lying us and "he" is a "she". And is not Vikram. It is Elizabeth. Holly **** !!!!

Oh God, don't tell me your pulling a Sam-female Sam-Russ on us.

Matsui; K/lineout to RF/intentionally walked.

No one knows, Andrew. No one knows

LOL, its ugly during the off season for me.
I am actually forced to find another hobby. This year i'll take my golf lessons seriously i guess.

Last year was bad. I had intense BWS (baseball withdrawal syndrome). I was counting down frantically to Pitchers and Catchers report day. I even booked tickets to spring training. For the most part, i passed time by focusing a bit more of school (lol, look at my priorities) and dating guys i knew i'd stop calling once pitchers and catchers reported :-D

Another 1-2-3 for Randy

Sanchez is 3 outs away from a no-no.

Last one was pitched by Randy in 2004. (PG)

Giambi is in a bad bad slump. But he picked to the right time to go into one.

I want to go to spring training some day.

LOL "guy's who'd stop calling once pitchers and catchers reported" haha, thats too funny.

Gees Giambi is really bad slump

Lola is also short for Elizabeth.
In fact, Robbie, Alex, Jorge, Tino etc are all short for Elizabeth.

LOL Lola.
BWS, I'll have to remember that one as an excuse.

isn't ESPN supposed to cut away to no hitters?

I went to Spring training Libby some years ago. Yankees still were in Ft. Lauderdale. It was the team with Don Mattingly, Dave Winfield, Rickey Henderson, and so many others. That year we signed Jack Clark. And the manager was the ONE AND ONLY ....... BILLY MARTIN

I had pretty bad BWS as well, but I managed to curb my habit by switching over to the Buffalo Sabres and the Colgate Raiders.

Sabres WILL get the Cup this year! Maybe this year 4 of their 6 starting defensemen won't get injured during the playoffs! Go Sabres!!

Nice BB, A-Rod.
I hope Karl is not short for Elizabeth.

They'll cut away to the Top of the 9th once it starts. They were showing the Top of the 8th before. No need to show the Marlins hitting.

LOL, we are all short for Elizabeth.
Elizabeth is the female Nick Green. :-D

1988, Jorge. It was the spring of 1988. Billy only lasted 68 games that year. Billy V. Then on Christmas 1989 he died.

OH MY GOD. They scored it a hit??

those dirty sox scorers changed it to a hit?

isn't ESPN supposed to cut away to no hitters?

Posted by: gabehonig@aol.com | September 6, 2006 09:05 PM

no, they are too busy riding the red sox's wedges.

Anyone living in northern Minnesota is forced to love hockey come winter. I hate no interest in it before I got to high school, and now I go to every single home game. It's like a disease here.

even elizabeth is short for elizabeth.

Papi strikes out and 20mins later gets back to teh dugout...

Randy looking good. Need more runs for him.

even elizabeth is short for elizabeth.

Posted by: yankee_indian@xyz.com | September 6, 2006 09:08 PM

****, i am dying here :-D u guys are great!

is everyone has witty as this in real life?
especially u paul...

This is Paul's real life.

"Elizabeth is the female Nick Green."

I feel honored to be mentioned in the same sentence as Nick Green.

no Lola. Paul copies comments from other blogs and pastes them here.

This pretty much how I am, Lola. I see no reason to be someone i'm not because i'm on the net, lol.

No Lola I am not this witty. I have no friends and this is my only social life.

Hello everybody, never posted here before but just wanted to say how much I have recently enjoyed reading the blogs and the comments! Cmon Yanks, beat this Manny lookalike KC's got on the mound! Oh and tonight Jeter 1-2, Mauer 1-3. Not that I'm obsessively checking Gameday or anything! ;)

to be honest I am not the same Lola. I am REALLY REALLY shy. Within my friend circle I am like this.

Gees yanks...1 run in last 13 innings against the lowsy Royals...need some runs

It'll be so nice if Annabel gets the no-no cause all you'll hear about is "former Red Sox prospect" and "traded for Josh Beckett" Theo. Theo. Theo.

From MLB player page:

**** at watching TV and using the internet...i mean , who doesnt???is this a hobby??? LOL :-D

intro please. mr/mrs a24diun

Hahahaha that's probably how they'll spin it.

Hi everyone, Sorry I haven't been around, but life just gets in the way of a healthy baseball obsession.
Angel, how are you, I too must admit to a pet peeve about the 'ite'. It's just wrong. You Americans really know how to butcher the language!!! ;-)

Robyn

Matsui up with 2 on.

Glad to have you. Where do we send the Welcome Wagon?

I think he does it. You guys?

anibal is on espn...

2 outs to go for Sanchez.

Is the Marlins game on ESPN?

2 outs away!! :-D
i am rooting for him. *crosses fingers*

when will matsui be back in the lineup? anyone know?

wow. RK struck out the side.

To those lucky enough to be watching, how's Randy pitching. He looks okay on Gameday!!

I think the internet does good things for rather shy people. It's a lot easier for some people to talk on here than face-to-face with other people.
Woo hoo RJ, he struck out the side!

Matsui got the green light on 3-0 and singled in a run.

Trenton leads 3-1 in the bottom of the 7th.

and Randy is dealing.

1 out to go...

1 more out. 1 more

1 out away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i love rooting for rookies!!!

wow, Anibal is dealing.

HE GOT IT!

OMG if i were him, i'd be sweating bricks right now...

HE GOT IT. WOW.

HE DID IT

OMG...i amm soooooo happy for him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

he got it!!! I'd love to see the replay it was closer than the ump made it out to be. And not to beforgotten he is doing it in a playoff race!

I've never been a fan of the Marlins, especially after 2003, but I'm happy that they are doing fairly well for Girardi (who is getting props from everyone except the Marlins' owner).

I bet the Red Sox wish they could have Anibal Sanchez right now.

He got it. Nice job, Annibal.

So I guess Randy will just have to finish this one, too.

For those who have forgotten me, I'm in NSW, Australia about an hour and a half from Sydney and the same from Canberra. You can send the WW if Nick Green is drining it!!!

Gees yanks...1 run in last 13 innings against the lowsy Royals...need some runs

Posted by: sam13281328@aol.com | September 6, 2006 09:14 PM

Lol. Russ, I was just thinking about two certain 1-0 games against the Royals. Perhaps they are not as bad as we think.

awww...he is crying and i wanna cry...awwww
i LOVE this game!

they are not showing the replay, it must have been too close.

Yeah he looked safe but who cares.

The Marlins are like a bunch of little kids haha. I'd look out for them in a few years.

Matsui s/b back after the Baltimore series...next homestand.

unrelated, but i think i have been spoiled by Yankee stadium!
there was like NO ONE in that stadium! :-O wow!

I think the internet does good things for rather shy people. It's a lot easier for some people to talk on here than face-to-face with other people.

Posted by: gonyy27@yahoo.com | September 6, 2006 09:17 PM

Your are right Karl

Don't worry Andrew. After the Marlins win the WS again, they'll dismantle the team.

1997, 2003....every 6 years. So 2009 they win and then get broken up.

I love it that Sanchez was traded for Beckett, hehehe. Sanchez looked great vs. the Yanks a while ago, he has a great career ahead of him.

Wow, congrats to Annibal Sanchez. Sensational!

Boy did Theo pull a blunder, a homer-happy guy for a no-hitter guy...

The Marlins sure deserve the NL WC this year, they do. And props to Giraldi, if they make it, he should be hands down manager of year.

How ironic. The last no-hitter was RJ, pitching for the Diamondbacks. Now this no-hitter; pitched against the Diamondbacks.

Say what you will about the Marlins' fire sale tactics, but it does seem to work, doesn't it?

i missed it, what happened with RJ???? :-/

Captain!

The Red Sox must feel even stupider now.

Yes!

The only two realistic candidates for NL MGR of the Year are.....

Randolph and Girardi.

Good to see the guy the Red Sox traded for Josh Beckett is pitching no-hitters for the Marlins.

Wow Jeter. The fantasy team is on a roll.

MVP!!!!!!!!!!!

Jeter for MVP!!

CARAMBA! VAYA CAPITAN!!!

Nothing happen with RJ. The camera saw him stretching in the dug out and now they are talking about a possible back thing. They don't know anything for sure. Randy could have just been picking up a penny or something.

Real life, Lola? What is that?

And the record has already been established, as someone wrote in here or somewhere that Lola is often short for Leonard, Dave, or Bob.

by the way, i am just as loca (as jorge would say), chipper, cheerful, sometimes witty, optimistic, googoo over Grady Sizemore in real life! :-D

Jeter now at .345...as is Mauer

Fire sale tactics will work if your scouts evaluate talent properly. If the scouts buy into ESPN hype of *certain* prospects, they will be stuck in mediocrity forever. If the Marlins asked for Lester/Hansen for Beckett, I'm sure they would have gotten them. But see who they asked for. And see what happened.

I know there is still a long way to go, but:

Mauer .345

Jeter .345

DJ's helping my fantasy team a lot too, a long with RJ-so far. Sshhhhh.

MVP

Has Theo been fired yet?

No?

Why not?

Is Anibal the youngest ever to throw a no-hitter?

Marlins have excellent scouts. And Girardi deserves a lot of credit.

And the owner is among the worst in baseball. He destroyed the Expos on purpose and was rewarded with the Marlins which he dismantled as a ploy to get taxpayers to buy him a stadium.

Hi Robin, long time no see.

I was getting my baking out of the oven.. yes, i actually baked, lol.

Instead of crying in their beer, small market teams should take notes on the Marlins.

Can we buy out Marlins scouts?

i'll never understand how he runs a team into the ground and is allowed to run another team by MLB.

I don't think there's a worse owner than Loria. I hate his guts, for his tactics and how he handled Girardi. What an @$$hole.

Angelos is pretty bad too.

Another hometown redsox scoring. That was an error by Pedroia.

I love what Girardi is doing with that team. First year, they were supposed to be lucky to be over .500 and now they're in the wild card chase.

Yum, home cooking. Your hubby is a lucky man. So what's cooking, as well as the Yankees??

Is Randy lights out today. Or is it just royals.

Youngest pitcher to throw a no-hitter:

Amos Rusie, 20 yrs, 2 mo.

1891 NY Giants

Lola is also short for Amos.

Buck Showalter is feuding with his management? If he is fired, the Rangers will continue the tradition and win the Series next year.

**** Sterling. He just cursed RJ.

Speaking of no-hitters, Randy's got one going through 5...

shush. No one say a word.

Randy is looking pretty good today, seems to be no sign of the evil twin!!

how does one go about becoming a ball club owner?
i want to start a ballclub...here's my line up:

Vik - Catcher

Elizabeth - 1B

Mike - 2B

Swo - 3B

Karl - DH

Gabe - SS

Rob - LF

Andrew - CF

Alex - RF

Paul - RHP

Me - Manager :-D. Angel - Pitching Coach.

Ashley - Bench Coach. Sam/Russ 3rd base coach I need the aggresiveness - score me some runs!).

...to be continued.

Just muffins and cupcakes.. he was complaining there was nothing to eat.. so i baked to shut him up LOL.

grrrrrrr Andrew. If this breaks it, your body will be in my trunk. Dead or alive.

Alright I get to coach, that works for me.

More baseball gossip courtesy of the Yankees broadcast team...Tom Hicks blasted Buck Schowalter on the radio. I wonder if Buck will be fired. If he is fired, Texas could very well win the World Series next year.

i hope either the marlins or the phillies win the NL wildcard

Too late, but I'm good luck.

Why am I CF... lol. I played CF with friends once and it didn't work out.

Heheh, that would be pretty funny, wouldn't it? Randy gets pissed off about that young rookie who throws the no-hitter and decides to take vengeance in the form of...well, you know...

LOL, Lola, I can't yell yet, no tonsils and uvula right now

GIAMBINOOOOO

Good job. I was looking up who it was. HOF Amos Rusie. Nice job.

Ooh, I'm a DH. That's probably a good thing, I can't field a ground ball worth ****. I'm a mediocre OF and I can hit a tiny bit with my left-handed Sheffield stance.

If RJ falters it is SO Andrew's fault.

Right now? Do they grow back????

Say what you want about Loria as a person, but what the Marlins have done is what they have to do. Sell their players for the highest value, before the become free agents and get maximum return. The won the series in 2003 and have been in a position to make the playoffs for the last 3 years. Their GM Bennifest (sp?) is one of the best in the game.

Lola you forgot Vince.

Yeah Lola. Why am I the catcher? I cant squat for that long. I can sure throw out runners though. And i can run really fast.

Angel: I wish my wife shut me up like u shut up ur husband. All she does to shut me up is say "shut up or else .."

Vince will be my hitting coach.

LOL Lola. Don't make Kasey the PR guy.

Hey, I have a voice that can be heard over two paddocks!!

No, doesn't grow back...I also had a tongue reduction, and that doesnt gro back LOL

Lola I can be LHP or RHP since I can throw with either arm.

Kasey was the star who held out for a better contract and was traded, I guess.

I'll be the catcher instead, Vik. I can't play 3B anyway because I'm left-handed. So that works out.

I'm like the anti-Brandon Inge, moving from 3B to catcher! :-P

Lola, I am flattered to be the SS. What is the thinking there?

Don't make Kasey the emotional therapist guy either.

5-0 biotch!!! :-D
E at #15 tonight :-D

JOrge!!

I can be the Mike Myers-ish lefty reliever with my El Duque windup and 40 MPH fastball, lol.

5-0.

hip-hip... JORGE!

Jorgie juiced one!

Yeah I can play 3B. I am ARod.

POSADA YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS....good job

GO JORGE!!!!

LOL Lola. Don't make Kasey the PR guy.

Posted by: pinstripes242@yahoo.com | September 6, 2006 09:39 PM

lmaooooo. *dead* u guys kill me :-D

2b? I'm 44, run like Benjie Molina and would be the only 215 lb. 2b in the league. At least with my legs, no one takes me out. LOL

Trenton wins 3-1.

Matsui 1-3, walk, 1 rbi.

yes Jorge!
What does that make Mark, the GM/owner?

I think i can throw atleast 65mph. I dont know.

ok, i see some people are not happy with their positions.
Tell me what u want to be and if i'm in a good mood, i'll see what i can do about rearranging my roster ;-)

I'll take 2B or SS. I am terrible in the outfield.

LF. Huh. I feel a strange sensation coming over my knee. I think I'm coming down with something....

Hey guys, lets go to Angels after the game for celebratory muffins and cupcakes!!!!!
Go Yankees!!

Was Cano robbed??

****, u guys are killing me :-D

Hi everyone!!!! What a homer by Jorge, huh?? Super exciting!!!

LOL Vik, Well i can say it like that, and it does work - but he sulks when told to shut up - so its better for me if i do it by putting food in his mouth.

Red Sox future star second baseman is hitting a very solid .100.

It took a nice running catch to get Cano out.

Lola, I used to play 3B in softball but I am older now and would need to have a chair and batters would need to agree not to hit to me very often.

Well robin is clearly begging for a position that allows to bellow over two paddocks? Have we got a position that will allow her to do that? LOL

She could be the Bob Sheppard of the team.

Lola, I can umpire. I umpire girls fast pitch high school softball

Rob are you needing Carl Pavano Surgery?

Yeah Angel. I'll have to suspect ur husband if it doesn't work.

Lola... you seem to have left a very valuable member of the team off.. ME!! haha, although I am the worst at all sports so maybe I can be the announcer or the hot dog lady or maybe a bat girl or something...

Cano was robbed. It was a brilliant play. it seemed to be a sure double.

Who is the designated Carl Pavano?

Hey Lola what's the batting order? I could be a mediocre leadoff guy, I'm good at getting beaned.

Phonetically speakning, how the heck would you say Hernadez's first name??

hey Kat. Thanks for the description of the play Gabe.

I played outfield in high school and college. Still play 3B/1B/P for my softball team. So I'll be "Crash" - the old guy still dreaming of making the club.

Skippy Hernandez

I can run pretty quickly so I can leadoff if no one wants to. I swing at everything so that may not work out too well.

I was pondering that too.

Does Run-Elvis work for you? LOL

LOL...Kat, u can be our Carl Pavano :-D
j/k...wanna be my 1st base coach?

Runelvys Robyn. hahaha.

Should we make Kasey the designated Pavano?

I'm better now. Being named to LF led me to suddenly be attacked by Mannicitis. I beat it back by putting on my Jeter jersey.

But now my left wrist hurts. huh.

I wonder if they named him after watching Forest Gump.

Run-Elvis... run!

Alex and Kaylee are young.
I'll be GM.

I'd say run Elvis, but maybe just because that's the only connection I can make.
Scary 1st out there.

speakning=speaking
I'll volunteer as Carl Pavano, I just cut my finger on a piece of paper!!! Does his pay check come with the position???

No it is Skippy. The R-u-n-e-l-u-y-s is silent.

atausin, whats ur name? =]
wanna be on our team??

Karl, the batting order is as is :-D

Vik is our Johnny Damon!

what do u think guys? can our team win a world series or what?? :-D
what shall we be called???

where will be our homebase?

8 ks for Randy. He is dealing. Guess he forgot how old he will be on Sunday.

Andy. But my friends call me.....Andy

Yesss. I am Damon. I can grow a lot of hair too. Only problem is my hair is really thick and curly.

I will call him Skippy forever more!!

I'm 16 so I guess I have plenty of upside, lol. Maybe if I work at it my velocity will be up to 6o and I can get past first base.

and what are our colors?

Alex is young but tall..he can play a good outfield!

Kaylee can be our assistant bullpen instructor.

I need a couple of bullpen volunteers, and cant forget a closer now! Tres important!

LOL!

I spat my drink!

Runelvyes is that short for Elizabeth?

Why is Ortiz always up in the 9th. And he gets to face a fresh off the DL hermanson to pad up his late inn stats. duh.

There you go. I'll be closer. I'm good at closing things.

ok, i'll pretend i dont notice that RJ has a **** **** going.

Kaylee can be our mascot.

I'm 6'1 and weigh 145, if that helps.
I can releive vs. lefties. My splitter is actually slightly decent from time to time.

No way do I want to be Carl Pavano - I may **** at sports, but I'd still go there and play my little heart out, even if I did have a hang nail, papercut and eye twitch unlike our #1 Yankee Carlie-Boy. I could do 1st base coach. I could also do score-keeper...

I swear.. Mark must just look at this comments section and shake his head.. most of us are as mad as the Mad Hatter.

nvm. Fatty makes an out regardless.

I might be better in a role that doesn't require throwing, catching, or hitting. I guess that doesn't leave many options.

What's the team name?

I think the camera guy got too close to this pitcher for his Gameday pic.

Twinkies lost. That's good for everyone in the AL.

Who are our scouts?? May be we should let Mike scout for us.

Just call me Carl, my finger hurts!!! It's really bad!! There is even a little bit of blood. Ohhhh I just fainted!! ;-0

You dont have to hit, throw or catch to be the trainer.

I dunno Karl, WE NEED TEAM NAME, COLOR AND HOMEBASE SUGGESTIONS, tEAM!

E # 16.....soon to be 15

ARod needs 2 more runs for a century

Rwinslow, what is your name? =]

Sam is Billy Martin. Hired and fired many times over this year and has a respectable temper to match! :)

Okay, who is this Skippy Braun that Gameday doesn't even have a pic of him, focused or not???

Markitdown Crackheads

Mike would be a great scout.
Robyn, you are a brilliant Carl Pavano. LOL!

Yay Boston lost, lets drop that magic # 2 more games.

Yanks would tie Detroit on the loss column with a W.

We can be the Frozen Turkeys of Downtown Los Angeles/Anaheim.

And if Yanks win they are even with Tigers in the loss column.

Dear Lola, it's Robyn. Please let me be Carl!! Please

The team name?

The Fite-ing Fighnsands

****, u guys are on E.
I dont like these names so far! ****

WHAT?

You don't like the Frozen Turkeys of Downtown Los Angeles/Anaheim?

Robyn! Are u as good looking, but yet so incompetent as Carl? Are you to fragile, a feather could break you? Do you drive a Porsche that has the potential to hydroplane?
If so, welcome to our team Carl! ;-)

Oops I spelled it Robin earlier too I think.. my apologies, Robyn.

I know now. All of us are drunk today. We donno what we are talking.

Well, forget that. Triple.

*sticks out her tongue in Paul's general direction.*

F'CK! there goes the no hitter :'(

I like the flying turkeys, especially since the team was Lola's idea.

Oh well, there goes the no-no. And probably the shut out.

Ahh screw you De Jesus, lol.

Oh well, there goes the no hitter.

and i was really trying to contain my excitement of possibly witnessing 2 no-hitters in one night! F'ck!@!

No it's the Frozen Turkeys, not the Flying Turkeys.

grrrrrrrrrr Andrew. You and ESPeeN.

Jorge!

JORGE! Picks DeJesus off of 3rd!

Wow. Posada. Wow. Uh, wow.

Uh oh, I'm going to the FBI for protection from Vik.

Posada to Pena: Where have you been all my life?

Hahaha, that was vengeance for the broken no-hitter! Good job Jorge!

This is all Andrew's fault.
YEAH THEY GOT HIM YES JORGE

Paul would also be a good scout, how else would we know about our opponents' beach-walking abilities?

Markitdown Flying Turkeys is good.

Ok, i think we should definitely have Turkey in our name somewhere...
we cant be the frozen turkeys though...that'd mean we ****! :-D

Posada is better defensively, I think, now than ever.

I'm cuter and my little Ford, who thinks he's a porsche, did do some hydroplaning last night on the way home from Sydney. I can pitch better than the real CP right now and I'm not known for my pitching!! So I reckon I have all the right qualifications. By the way I have had to put my finger in a sling!!

Jorge will wake up to what he predicted. An E # of 15.

Wow you guys are actually insane haha.

I agree Paul. Tony Pena's coaching.

Jorge will wake up to what he predicted. An E # of 15.

Atleast it wasn't broken by a bloop hit or infield single. And Andrew I was just kidding. Although I believe in jinxes, your jinx and the event (of the broken no hitter) were too far apart in time. So I dont think it is you. I have to blame this in ESPeeN. Sry Rob for stealing the name.

****, Robyn, oh i meam, Carl...welcome. You are our $40 million dollar bench warmer ;-)

lol, u guys are nuts! :-D

Tony Pena is an outstanding coach. He was in KC and he is here also. The man knows how to teach young and veteran players.

I'm still going to the FBI for protection haha.

i love our team... name??

Well, sorry Randy. Good effort, but one perfecto is already well-good enough.

De Jesus - Jesus always delivers! haha.

And give credit to Jorge for being coachable. A lot of 30-something stars aren't.

I still blame the loss of the no hitter on Andrew. Also I blame him for the the untimely death of my pet turtle for a week when I was 7.

Both events have left a scar on my soul.

No problem Vik. No problem at all. ESPeeN is freeware.

Go Andy.

****, Paul/u guys are are killing me :-D

Andrew, what you need is a good attorney not FBI. I'm sure Paul is going to sue ur @$$ for the 'scars' your deeds left on his life.

Paul, I'll say it again. I wasn't around in the stone age.

But yeah, the no-hitter was my fault.

Your turtle died for a week?

I think our team name should be:
The [Hometown] Turkeys.

There's our name the Nutty Turkeys!!!! Thanks Lola. I have to rush over to the hospital and have an MRI on my finger. Is now a good time to tell you about the leg I broke three weeks ago???
Love Carl

I think our team name should be:
The Hometown Turkeys.

Was Nick Green there to resurrect it?

"The Mark Feinsand's Blog Frozen Turkeys of Downtown Los Angeles/Anaheim."

****, Robyn!
did u really break a finger? Or are u just playing ur Carl role? :-D

Do turtles have second comings???

I love ESPeeN today. They are making sure they mention redsox everythime they talk abt Anibal and Anibal everytime they talk abt redsox. This is way too much fun. If I am not on the blog tomorrow, please call 911 guys. I may die from the joy.

Jorge!

Jorge ate his spinach last night! :-D

Second 3 run homer!

J O R G E !!!!!

2 three-run HRS for Jorge, and this pitcher's MLB debut is one to be forgotten.

Jorgie. What the **** got into you tonight? lol.

Jorge is having a Bernie day!

If Papelbon's arm is tired after throwing just 60 innings, how can he be a starter.

I have Jorge on 2 of my 3 fantasy teams, I am very happy right now. And I have Cano as well...

MAGIC NUMBER AT 15

JORGE STRIKES AGAIN!!!
No Lola, very small paper cut; just thought I would play Carl to the hilt!!!

Jorge is as streaky as one can be. And that run 99 for ARod.

Did you guys see the pride in Tino's face when he talks abt Mo? I love Tino.

Jeter .344; Cano .340

I LOVE Tino!!!
I still wear my Tino jersey to the stadium.

Tino was always one of my favorites.

Proctor is up in the bullpen.

Why?

Why? Why? Why?

Tino's one of my favorites.

Wow. A-Rod's OPS for September? 1.314.

Posada's is 1.696.

Tino is definitely my favorite recent ex-Yankee.
Paulie is second...

J Diaz ERA for KC is 40.50

Proctor, seriously?

lol, poor proctor...he's always warming up in the pen.
He's warming up in the pen even before the game starts!

Can't Dotel throw an inning?

My favorite former Yankees are Tino, O'Neill, and Cone.

Is Proctor up in the pen. Is it possible that Torre cant go in the morning if he didn't see a pitch by Proctor the previous night??

Who doesn't love Tino? I felt like he got the short end of the stick last year at the end of the season, when the fans cheered for Bernie like crazy - I felt we should have cheered just as much for Tino. Granted, he left the team for a while, but he was a pivotal part of those "great" years as well.

I love when you check out a reference and find a pitcher's career ERA is the infinity sign because he never recorded an out and you can't divide by zero.

Poor Diaz! 40.50??
Thats the highest ERA i've ever seen! LOL

No Lola. Haydenn Penn on the Orioles had an ERA of 108.

Speaking of great ex-Yankees, a guy I play softball with played golf with Scott Brosius last weekend. His daughter is married to Scott's best friend.

You lie!
What??? How is that possible???? LOL

mathematically speaking 0 runs and 0 outs should not be infinity Mike. It is just undefined. > 0 runs and 0 outs is an ERA of infinity.

randy has only 79 pitches. He should come back in.

I miss all of those guys.

Nick Green is in the game.

Error on Nick. It isn't easy being Green.

everybody gets an off day. except poor Scottie.

No Lola, as hard as it is to believe, it's 108. Go check the website, LOL I feel bad for him. He gave up something like 8 runs in 2/3 of an inning.

I can't believe Proctor is in now. Why not Bruney, or Henn, or even Dotel with an 8 run lead?

God must have been asleep.

Torre cant be this stupid. May be he knows something we dont.

wait...i thought i was on top of all things yankee...
who the heck is a catazero???

God isn't playing very well right now. Or as he just trying to make Cannizaro look good?

There went the shut out. I really cannot understand why Joe is using Proctor.

Yeah, but they use the infinity symbol. (Can't insert here). What else can they use?

There goes the shutout.

Who wants to help me kidnap Proctor? We can give him back at the end of September.

Why not just send Randy back in. He threw only 79 pitches.

I'm on it.

atleast the royals feel sorry for Proctor. They made him throw only 6 pitches.

Chris Cannizaro. INF. Hit .276 at COlumbus. A September expanded-rosters callup. Should now get his first MLB at bat.

Cairo and perhaps Kevin Thompson may join the team next week.

OMG, i just looked it up...http://baltimore.orioles.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/team/player.jsp?player_id=435140
108 ERA. wow...poor kid =(

Can someone explain to me this little statement?

Bottom 8TH B:1 S:1 O:1

Ryan Shealy grounds out, third baseman Nick Green to shortstop Andy Cannizaro to first baseman Andy Phillips. Shane Costa to 3rd.

And all of this was for one out?

they should probably use na, Mike. It is unfair to start a guy's career with infinity era. lol.

Where has this Andy Cannizaro come from?? Anyone seen or heard about him before????

I don't know about infinity but 108.0 is pretty bad too don't you think lol

63 Andy Cannizaro R/R 5-10 170 12/19/78

ok, this news completely flew over my head. First time ever seeing or hearing about dude.

I think they're trying to rest Randy, which is not a bad idea. But Proctor was a bad one.

As for our team colors, how could you argue with blue and white stripes?

The Yankee uniform is the sharpest one in the majors.

dark blue with white stripes. i like that! very clever robyn ;-)

I know why God committed the error. To fill up the line score. Who wants 0s?

Canizzaro on deck. Will he get his first ML at bat?

Nope. Poor kid.

I work in typesetting and publishing. The infinity works. N/A would work too, but they've been using infinity for it seems like forever. It's funny to see though.

One of the strangest boxscores I ever saw was a game Andy Hawkins pitched for the Yanks. One inning, 10 runs, and all unearned.

Sunny, it was the play of the game. Green accidentally kicked the ball to Cannizaro, who threw out the runner. Not joking, it was amazing.

Sunny- hard hit ground ball went off Nick Green's foot and deflected to the SS Cannizaro who threw to first to nab Ryan Shealy.

Wait, what the ****? Wasn't Cannizaro supposed to bat?

The 2 1B players are cousins, both Phillips.

Remember Andy Hawkins thre a no hitter against the white Sox and lost? Mike Blowers made an error at 3rd for the first run and then Jim Leyritz lost a fly ball in the sun with the bases loaded and the Yanks lost 4-0 and Hawkins gave up zero hits.

What do you mean accidently?!! Nick Green, in his benevolence, did that to give Cannizaro an assist.

That was me who suggested the stripes Lola, but it doesn't matter. My only question is if we deserve them, lol.
Farnsy? Whatever, I guess.

Amazing/lucky they haven't had a save op these past two series with Mo out. Very lucky.

Gabe, I prefer to forget that.

Ugh. Farnsy!

great athleticism by Farnsie leaping to catch that ball.
What a fox!

I swear, being a yankee fan this year has its plenty girlie perks! doesnt it seem like we have the most good looking guys for any club? :-p

as the royals make it 8-3. whatever.

Pepto™ time

Farns hasn't pitched in a while. It was a good move.
